Garden Design Course

The Farmluxe Method is the process of designing and growing an organic home garden - not only for food and flower production – but also as a regenerative, aesthetically pleasing immersive space for gathering with guests & family, and for nourishing our bodies.  It involves growing in sync with our unique natural environments while designing for all five senses; considering sound, fragrance, focal points, sense of touch, and of course, taste. The Farmluxe Method calls for natural materials, raised planting beds, a central gathering space, seating areas, and densely planted annual and perennial flowers, veggies, herbs, and native plants.

Instructed by Misha Gillingham

Misha Gillingham is a passionate gardener, garden designer, and award-winning published author. Her new book, Blooms & Dreams, is available now wherever books are sold. She is currently working on a second book all about garden design, which she is excited to share with you soon. Misha is also a garden show creator, influencer, and photographer. Her designs have been featured in major publications such as Country Living Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, and Farmhouse at Heart Magazine. Club Farmluxe is Misha’s garden club full of tutorials, educational interviews, and content from the garden. Misha also teaches gardening & garden design workshops on her farm on San Juan Island.

Is The Farmluxe Method Right For You?

The Farmluxe Method is for anyone who wants to grow an organic garden for more reasons than just plant production. This includes plant lovers who want to transform their growing space, home gardeners who like to entertain, anyone wanting to start a wedding or event venue in their garden, and anyone wanting to hold workshops in their garden. A Farmluxe style garden is a hybrid between a flower farm, a cottage garden, a country garden, and a kitchen garden. It is not a formal garden, as it focuses on a wild look over a perfectly manicured look.

How long does the garden design course take to complete?

You can work at your own pace. Designing a garden is not a process that should be rushed. It requires a lot of thought and creativity. We recommend completing one module every 2 weeks so that there is plenty of time to do the homework and think through your design choices. With our 9 modules this would take around 18 weeks or 4.5 months to complete.

What if I have questions while taking the course? Is there additional support?

Yes. You can leave your questions in the community forum under the section titled "course" and they will be answered in a timely manner.

Will there be quizzes or tests with the course?

No, just homework, which is the ongoing creation of your garden design plan.

Will there be homework with the course?

There is homework but it is optional and can be shared in the community forum if you wish.

Why would I want an annual membership if I can finish the garden design course in a few months?

The annual membership is for those who want to dive into gardening as a lifestlye. The garden design course is our first online course offering, but there will be new consecutive courses after this one. Additionally, there are many other reasons to stick around including our tutorials, interviews, community forum, meetups, events, wellness workshops, garden tours, and travel retreats. This is a garden club, not just a course, and we will examine all aspects of gardening on an ongoing basis.

Can I access the content if I cancel my membership?

No. You can only access the content with an active membership.

How do I cancel?
If you don’t want to continue, you can cancel your membership at any time. Follow the prompts to cancel on the Billing page, and your membership will not renew. Please note that there aren’t refunds for partially unused membership periods.
